From John Collins Ministries:
"And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.” Deuteronomy 7:22 (NKJV).
Our faith builds as our commitment to God is tested again and again
“And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” Deuteronomy 8:2 (NKJV).
These words were spoken to the generation that was led into the promised land. They were given a promise and they were told what was happening and why. We have been told no less. We are just not always listening. Each of us takes a journey with God, just as the Israelites did then. It is personal and it will take our entire lives to complete.
Along the way, we need to realize that the battles that appear before us will not be won immediately for our benefits so that God can prove that He is God for us. They will be won in stages and in His time. Along the way, our faith will be tested, we will be humbled and we will stumble and fall. It is a learning process that benefits not only us but those that we encounter throughout our lives.
What would you do if you were given complete faith upon seeking it? Would you know what to do with it? Would you know how to exercise it? Faith is believing in what you cannot see, knowing that the promise of the Cross is true. What we do with our faith is what James would describe as deeds. Our faith puts our bodies and minds to work on behalf of God and Jesus Christ. Our faith is what demands that we walk with God in submission to His will and the will of Jesus. Our faith will come to compel us to be Christians and not just say we are Christians. Our faith builds as our commitment to God is tested again and again.
What does God want from us? That is simple:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, you shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NKJV).
