PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: LAZY FAITH

From John Collins Ministries:

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NKJV).
It is time for a serious reality check for every single person living on earth at this time: You are going to die an earthly death and will have to face the righteous judgment of God. You may think you know what that means, you may not care but let me fill in the blanks for so many….whether you choose to believe in God or not, whether you find God fair or not, whether you agree with God or not, whether you end up dismissing God or not, whether you reject God or not and whether you end up getting as angry at God as you want and as defiant toward God as you want and you can ignore Him, disobey Him and reject His Son but in the end, ALL will come before the judgment seat of Christ and ALL will face the righteous judgment of God, whether you want to or not and whether you believe it or not.

Heaven is NOT a given. Heaven is NOT guaranteed. Heaven is a reward of the salvation that you claim when you choose Jesus and obedience over your worldly life and yourself. People are so selfish and self-involved and so full of self-importance that they just can’t seem to work out their salvation with fear and trembling because they have lost their capacity for reverence and most have never bothered to develop it for God in the first place but have transferred that delight and wonder and awe for the material things of this world and for the prestige that can come with it.

Everyone wants to talk about how God is love and just ignore the truth that God is wrath as well. Remember that God is complete, God is divine and God is the Creator of all and is without flaws. Judgment happens in a moment and is irreversible and it is forever. Why take any chances with your eternal soul when today allows you call on Jesus and to obey the Lord. Do not be lazy in your faith. Get right with God.
“For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.’ So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:11-12 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: SUICIDE

FROM JOHN COLLINS MINISTRIES:

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV).

Sometimes life just beats you up and sometimes your faith is tested more than you think that you can bear. It is important to begin and maintain that relationship with Jesus so that you can be sure that all of your struggles in life will produce the results that you seek. You should be seeking first and always to obey the Lord and get to heaven and your entire life should produce godly fruit that is evident of your conviction.

When you are not striving to do the will of God and you are living your life doing your own will and pursuing your own desires then you can be sure that any pitfalls that you fall into are not about testing your faith but are about providing opportunities for you to begin to pursue your faith. If you are a person who devotes each day to becoming more Christ-like then you can be sure that all of your struggles are not in vain but are a product of your learning to trust in God and also learning what is approved of by God while strengthening your character and preparing you for heaven. Only the pure and the approved get to go to heaven and just believing in Jesus does not mean you will be welcomed into Paradise. Remember that even the demons believe.

Perseverance is a challenge for everyone. It is not easy to feel burdened and tormented in life and it is not easy to deal with all that may happen that produces loss and hurt and scars. The beauty of submitting to the will of God and in obeying the Lord and in calling upon Jesus is that you know that when your faith is genuine, their strength is your strength and their hope for you is complete and they won’t let go. God really does want you to make it home to Him and Jesus really did die for you so that you could go there.

Life is difficult and times are tough and it is nothing new. Give your life to Jesus and commit to being loyal and obedient in your faith and know that no matter what you go through in this journey He will be there for you. Trust that you do have what it takes to persevere and it is worth it to try and try and try. Hold on to the hope that the Lord has given because He does love you.

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: WOMEN AND GOD

FROM JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST, JOHN COLLINS MINISTRIES:

“Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.” John 20:16-18 (NKJV).

Mary Magdalene believed in Jesus, sought Him out, anointed Him with oil, wept on His feet and wiped those feet with her hair. Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, learned from Him and was a disciple of His. Mary was the one that Jesus chose to see first after He was resurrected. Mary was brave and humble when she went to Him in that house of the Pharisee as she cared not what others thought of her, nor spoke of her but cared only to go to Jesus and kiss His feet and seek His forgiveness and His acceptance and Jesus not only gave that forgiveness, accepted her love for Him but spoke that she would be remembered for her actions and He demonstrated her value when He chose to go to Mary first and to give her the honor of knowing He was alive and to relate that information along with her witness of Him to his brethren.

It took courage to follow Jesus during His ministry and it took faith to know Him as the Son of God. Mary had that courage and had great faith in her Lord. There were dark centuries that followed the beginnings of the Christian faith. There have been centuries of oppression of not only the uneducated but of women as well. Women have come a long way from the days of the dark ages, of the days of education denial (for many parts of the world, anyway), and from the denial of equality of the genders. Women push forward in their search for that equality and for the opportunities to make their mark in this world but I want to remind women that their mark has been made and has never been taken for granted by God. God values women and Jesus demonstrated the love that He had for Mary by going to her first, by teaching her and standing up for her. Women should never forget that their value begins in the home, for they are the caretakers, the bringers of life and the mothers of our children. Do not underestimate the value of those things as being a mother allows you to teach your children how to get to heaven, how to live boldly and with faith in this dark world and being a wife allows you to help your husband be a part of a family that relies on God. A woman’s role does not have to be one thing or another but it should always be a role of strength and dignity with love and compassion at its core. That is the love of God within you and God has provided women with the complex ability to keep a family together and to guide it in love and faith with trust and truth at its center.

There always seems to be an agenda on the table and as progress ticks away and women continue to fight for what they believe to be most important to them I can only hope that they remember to value what has always belonged to them from the beginning. Family is everything and while equal pay may seem to be the biggest priority to some this world seems to be allowing the family to fail. Industrial success will never replace the failures of our homes and women need to find the courage, like Mary, to believe in our Savior and to brave the opinions of others to declare their loyalty to Him as they live up to the great responsibilities that have been entrusted to them. It is not easy to choose faith over finances, faith over popularity, faith over apparent success or faith over personal gain but in the end heaven is waiting and families need strong women to guide them.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.  But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: ABOUT RAPTURE

From John Collins Ministries:

"And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.  Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.  And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.  But he who endures to the end shall be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."  Matthew 24:10-14 (NKJV).

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."  Mar 13:32 (NKJV).

Many are saying that we are nearing the end of times, that Jesus will return soon, that the rapture is near and tribulation is upon us.  Jesus said that only the Father knows the time so it is impossible for anyone to know when the end will come.  Yet with so many preachers teaching this and so many eyes open to the happenings in the Middle East and so much attention being drawn to prophecy and supposition, why are people not taking their faith more seriously?  Why is there not more people repenting and coming to the foot of the Cross?

When prophets were sent to Israel and Judah, they were not always heard.  The sad truth is the majority of the people clung to their ways, their sin and their attachment to this world.  Too many perished because of their stubbornness and refusal to submit to God.  Every day that God holds back thejudgement of this world is a day of mercy to us all.  Each of those days is an opportunity to short from the rooftops that salvation is available to the lost.  Each day is filled with hope that we will come to our senses and get right with God.

We need to take our faith and salvation seriously.  We need to stop procrastinating and stop putting off changing our lives and our ways.  We need to get this right for ourselves and each other.  We cannot be half committed, somewhat devoted or undecided hen it comes to being a follower of Christ.

We need to give all, believe whole-heartedly and commit completely to living a life that is in obedience to Jesus and in submission to God.  That is what ensures our eternal salvation with reward of entry through heaven's gates.

We all can do better and become more Christ-like.  Each of us needs to be willing to alter our lies and purity our hearts.  It is not enough to say, "I am a work in progress."  We all need to take the steps to rid our lives of sinful influence and to resist our temptations.  We need to get honest with ourselves about what we hide from the world, about what we don't admit and about what needs to change.  Jesus is your strength and He wants you to belong to Him.  Do not deny yourself forever in heaven because you were unsure or lazy in your faith.  Even is your have doubts, call on Jesus untruth and I know that those doubts will fade and the truth along with the hope of salvation will bloom in your heart.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.  To him who overcomes I will grant to site with Me on My throne, as I have overcome and sat down with My Father on His throne."  Revelations 3:20-21 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS

From John Collins Ministries:

"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 (NKJV).
“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.” Luke 2:40 (NKJV).

Jesus came to be our Savior, to teach us and to die for us. As you go through life, you are to look to Jesus to care for you, to guide you and to strengthen you. The human spirit is strong and can withstand more than you could ever imagine.

Jesus is strong in spirit and knows your weaknesses. He knows what scares you, what intimidates you and what you avoid. Jesus is there to help you face your fears and conquer what you thought you couldn’t. Jesus will listen to you and will help you.

Faith in the Lord allows your spirit to have courage. Hope in the Lord allows your spirit the freedom from worry and that confidence allows you to serve the Lord honestly. The human spirit is capable of being beat up, smashed down and trampled upon and it will still get up and fight. The spirit of a person is a gift from God and faith in His Son is the eternal blessing.

If you are in the need of encouragement just look to Jesus and His life and you will find it. Look to the character of Jesus and you will find the beauty and grace of God. Look to the Son to find the hope of all of your tomorrows and you will know that the spirit that is inside of you is made of strong stuff indeed.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: A PRAYER FOR CHILDREN

From John Collins Ministries:

Heavenly Father, I pray to You today and ask You to wake up those who are sleeping, those who are resisting You and please Father help the little ones who believe in You.

There are children hurting, children being murdered, children being abused and these little ones have such a need for Your protection Father, so please comfort them and please bring help for them into their lives.

Father God, I know this world is defiant and this world is full of stubborn people, but You are bigger than any problem here, You are more powerful than any resistance here and

You are needed so very much by all of us here.  Please know that You are our hope and our future and we are thankful to You, God and we have hope because of Your precious Son, Jesus, who I ask to watch over our children and to help their little hearts to know that they are loved.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHT: DOING THE JOB

From John Collins Ministries:

“And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.’ And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’” Luke 2:42-49 (NKJV).

As a Christian you must be able to look at the life of Jesus and to see the focus and devotion that He had to doing the will of God and to make the effort to emulate it. Jesus knew that His life on earth was temporary and that He had a job to do while He was here and although the life of the Christian may not have the importance that the life of Jesus had, each life of a Christian comes with a job to do. Each person that is a believer in Christ has an obligation to the kingdom of heaven to glorify God and to follow Christ. That is the most important job that you can ever have and it is the only job that will see that you are permitted entry into the kingdom.

Whether you are busy being a parent, an employee, a student, a child, an athlete or a bum, you still have a responsibility to God. There is not any activity or obligation that you have that takes precedence over being a man or a woman of faith and living a life that shines for Jesus. There is not any excuse that you can give that will justify you ignoring God and choosing to not follow Jesus. We all have a job to do and either you do that job and receive the reward or you don’t do that job and you deal with the consequences. God is merciful and has much compassion but He is also righteous and His wrath will fall upon the wicked and the self-serving.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are too busy for God because He is not too busy for you.

“And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” Luke 4:12 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR......

From John Collins Ministries:

When Samuel was old the people of Israel asked for a king to lead them. They were told that in doing so they would be rejecting God. They insisted on being given a king. God allowed them to have their way in this folly but sent thunder and rain to show them their wickedness.

“And all the people said to Samuel, ‘Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins the evil of asking a king for ourselves.’
Then Samuel said to the people, ‘Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.” 1 Samuel 12:19-20

We are sinners. That is a fact. Sometimes we get caught up in our sin and find it hard to turn to the Lord. Some have yet to ever accept the Lord. Some may find it difficult to quit doing what they are doing although they know that it is wrong. I will say that it is harder to turn to God and His Son when you knowingly choose to sin with the intent of asking for forgiveness later. It is also known by God and Jesus what you are doing. What I mean by that is a person who is enjoying their life and saying to themselves, “I am young, having some fun, religion is for the dying and the old and I am not there yet.” The attitude of deliberately procrastinating in repentance and obedience is a sin that must be repented of along with the sins committed.

That being said, I want to encourage the most sinful of the sinners. No matter what you have done, God loves you and Jesus loves you too. Jesus died for all of us. God knows we are weak and we are stubborn. The point that Samuel was trying to make is that even though rebellion was at hand and rejection of God was taking place, he encouraged the Hebrews to obey God and trust in Him. That is our faith. When we have acted so awfully and know that our souls are dirty and we doubt our acceptance to our Lord, just take that leap of faith and trust in their compassion. Trust in the mercy of God and trust in the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. They are calling you to come home, hoping that you choose to become obedient to the will of God and Jesus for the salvation of your soul.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHT: WISDOM

From John Collins Ministries:

Biblical Wisdom vs. Biblical Knowledge

“Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors; ‘To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart.’” Proverbs 8:1-5 (NKJV).

There is a big difference between biblical knowledge and biblical wisdom. There are many people out there that can quote the Bible because they have memorized certain passages that further their points of view. There are many preachers out there that can speak with seemingly great amounts of biblical knowledge but the really smart person is a person that knows how to take that biblical knowledge and apply it to their lives and show that they have obtained wisdom.

Just knowing what God has said and what Jesus has said will do you not one bit of good if you do not obey them. Just knowing that there was an Exodus from Egypt will not do you any good if you are not willing to see yourself as the rebellious Israelite and alter your ways. Just knowing why Judah was removed from their land is not enough if you are not willing to see that denying God His honor and refusing to submit to His will is repeating the same mistakes.

The Bible is not just a story. It is not just history. The Bible is the word of God and it is our blueprint to life. The Bible is not ancient nonsense and it is not a book to just make us feel justified in our choices. The Bible is our instruction, our conviction and it is there to guide us to heaven.
Being able to repeat some bible verses does not make you a righteous person. Being able to use the bible to increase your wisdom and bring hope to another with the message of Christ is to seek to please the Lord. Being able to allow your heart to admit its flaws and to seek the forgiveness and lessons of the Lord is to claim Jesus as your Savior. Be willing to learn and grow in your faith as you seek to reach out for righteousness and you will come to know wisdom well.

“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver. I traverse the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries.” Proverbs 8:17-21 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: TEMPTATION OF CHRIST

From John Collins Ministries:

"And the devil said to Him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread. But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” Luke 4:3-12 (NKJV).

These are the temptations that Jesus was tempted with. It is interesting to take note of the temptations and the responses that Jesus gave. Satan tempted with scripture. The devil did to Jesus what he had done to Eve which is to twist things to his benefit and lure. Jesus responded with scripture as well and that is what I would like for you to take note of. There were three temptations and three responses.

Since Jesus had not eaten in 40 days, he was very hungry. Satan said to turn the stones to bread, which brought the response that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God. This was a temptation for the body’s natural desires. Hunger, shelter, passion, love, and all of our base desires should never be given into when it compromises our relationship with God. We need to trust that when we put God first, He will provide what we need, maybe not what we want but what we need.

Satan then offered Jesus authority and power over the kingdoms of the world if Jesus would worship Satan. Jesus responded by rebuking Satan and reminding him that only God is to he worshiped and served. We should never desire power and status. We need to be careful of what is offered to us and at what cost. That big promotion, the company car, the stock tip, the client who is not so honest but will bring big bucks and you can fill in the blanks on the possible exchange of status and your soul. We must make sure that any advancement that we are given in life comes along side our worship of God.
We must put our faith first because when we choose to give in to the desires of moving up in this world without God, we are choosing to place our material wants along with our craving authority in our own right above our desire for God and Jesus.

Satan then tells Jesus from the top of the temple to throw Himself down and trust that the angels will catch Him. Jesus responds with the truth that you shall not tempt God. Oh, this is a doozy. So many of us are guilty of this. I believe that the apathy that society has for God has led to more and more tempting of Him. People just don’t fear God anymore. People say things out loud that are tempting God and they do things that are tempting Him as well. We need to be aware of our words and our actions, that they do not tempt God, especially His wrath because of unbelief or doubt. Every idle word will be accounted for.

Take note of how you think of God and Jesus. Take seriously your faith. Don’t take for granted your time here on earth and most importantly, get your priorities straight. Get on your knees and pray with sincerity. Take the time to become a disciple of Christ. Don’t assume anything because you never want to get lazy in your faith.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”  Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: SOME GIVE ALL

From John Collins Ministries:

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 (NKJV).

Jesus spoke these words to prepare His apostles for His crucifixion. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Many may not expect to encounter a situation where this is a possibility here in America. Yet, there are soldiers that encounter this situation and face the possibility of death side by side there fellow soldiers every day while fighting battles for their country. There has been many wars that America has fought in and many men who have died. There is not a choice for a soldier to go to fight for their country; they just do. Most of those men will tell you that they fight for the men at their side. They face death with courage and heroism for love and loyalty of their fellow man.

I know that there is more faith taken into battle than into most churches. I know that there are more genuine prayers said and more true love felt for family and friends by those who face death than those who take life for granted. I also know that this world began with war and death when Cain slew Abel and I know that this world ends with war and death with Armageddon. I also know that this world experiences periods of peace in places of faith. The stronger the faith of the people and the more that righteousness abounds, the more we please God in heaven above and are given His intervention on our behalf. So there is something that America can do as a country to halt the wars and death of our loved ones, we can become firm in our faith and our reaching out in the name of the Lord.

I know that we see many soldiers as heroes and so they are. When you think of a soldier of courage and strength know that every soldier who ever fought has the greatest example to have ever lived in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is hero of heroes and king of kings. He is able to be our strength and guide our efforts. Let us reach out to those without faith without discouragement and without ceasing. Trust that God and Jesus love when we say, “God bless you” to strangers in public. If you don’t yet speak up automatically, start there. Say that to those you encounter and allow your love of God to flow to others. Make an effort and be rewarded.

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness’ but have the light of life.” John 8:12 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: THE GRUDGE HOLDER

From John Collins Ministries:

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew  6:14-15 (NKJV).

If anyone has read the Bible, gone to church to hear the gospel or been taught of our Lord Jesus Christ and has not realized yet that it is necessary to forgive others in order to obtain forgiveness, please keep reading.

Who do we think we are when we get hurt and become offended and our defenses go up and we become bitter and resentful of those who have crossed our paths and crossed us? Who do we think we are to withhold forgiveness from someone who has wronged us? Who do we think we are to expect what we are unwilling to give?

The Bible says that God makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good. We make the choice of which we will be. Why do we feel justified in holding on to our bitterness and anger, our grudges and resentments? Doesn’t anyone realize that forgiveness is for ourselves and not only the forgiven

These negative feelings lead to hatred, fights, killings, wars and death to our souls. What is the point of holding on to your self-justified sense of being right?

Who says that you need to have an apology given in order to return forgiveness?

It amazes me that people would harm their own souls for anger and hurt. I am amazed that people just don’t realize that forgiveness does not come from the Lord to us unless we are willing to offer forgiveness from us. Jesus said it Himself!!

The Bible says that we are to be holy as God is holy. It tells us to be Christ-like and Jesus said that He does what He has seen from His Father. We are to make the effort to obey them and to become righteous people. What purpose does holding on to some grudge serve any of us?

The Bible tells us that we all fall short of the glory of God but that does not mean that we do not obey God and make the effort to seek salvation with all of our hearts and souls. When we cannot let go of those past hurts and refuse to forgive those who have hurt us we are then killing our own souls.

Jesus was humiliated, beaten, had thorns thrust into His skull and the skin ripped from His body and had nails driven into His hands and feet. He was hung from that Cross and He did it for you. He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Luke 23:34 (NKJV).

How arrogant we are! Do we think that we are better than the Son of God, demanding retribution and apologies and vengeance, which is clearly the Lord’s? Does our pride demand that grudge, that justice that we feel is our right and our due? How can we feel that way when we have broken the commandments of God and deserve hell? How can we feel justified in our lack of forgiveness when we know in our souls that we have gone against the very laws of God and so many times we have done this deliberately? Are we so petty?

Look to your hearts people and let go of the ugly. Look deep inside and know that the truth is that withholding forgiveness means that you are not forgiven. We must get over ourselves. Life is more than offenses, victims and perpetrators. Life is making the choices that lead us home to heaven and our Lord. Life is letting go of what will not matter in the least once you are dead. Life is coming to know that the soul is more important than the body. Life is choosing Jesus over yourself.

“Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.’” Matthew 18:21-22 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHT: CHOOSING HELL

From John Collins Ministries:

Teaching our children to know about Jesus and God begins at home.  No school can do it for us.  Satan has woven his lies to keep children from knowing that Jesus is there to help them, to care for them, and to protect them.  A few generations back, God was taken out of school because He was an offense to someone, and Christians stood by and allowed it.  In addition,  because those generations didn’t like hearing the truth, the fact of hell and its consequences was removed. (Pastor John Collins, 2018).

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” Matthew 10:34-37 (NKJV).

These passages bring to mind a person choosing God over his family and that would be a righteous choice. It seems today that people won’t even choose to believe and are in denial about heaven and hell. If you truly believed in hell, would you send your children there? Would you willingly go if you knew the anguish and painful torment that you would have to endure?

It seems that there were a few rebellious generations who just didn’t like hearing about hell and damnation and all that would take them there, so when they grew up and became parents they chose to remove the warnings of hell from their parenting and leave the choice of belief up to their children. Just because you don’t like hearing it doesn’t make it untrue. That is why they say that the truth hurts. And this type of parenting and rebellion is literally choosing hell for yourself and sending your kids there too.

There are many who can only believe in what they can see for themselves and unfortunately their path to faith is a journey that is difficult to make but not impossible for with God all things are possible. We have got to wake up and stop willingly sending our loved ones to hell and doing everything in our power to join them.

When God says that something is a sin and will lead to the death of the soul, He is not lying. Let us stop being so stubborn and wake up and choose to hear Him. He didn’t send His Son here to die for us so that Jesus would die in vain. God sent Him so that He could save souls. Let us stop denying Him and let us start to obey Him. He is worthy of our love and our loyalty.

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.” Matthew 12:33 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: BAD DAY

From John Collins Ministries:

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” Lamentations 3:22-24 (NKJV).

Have you ever had a bad day that just went on and on into the next and then the next? Have you ever enabled your own sin by saying to yourself that you have already sinned so what does it matter? You do not have to allow one bad day to just stretch into an undetermined amount of time while you wallow in your own filth and excuses.

God is amazing and His mercy and compassion is fresh and new each day so if you messed up yesterday and regret it there is no reason to continue today. You have to stop your own self-sabotage at some time and just get on with it. There is no excuse for any of us and we are prone to justify our mistakes. God does not want justifications, He wants us to accept responsibility and to make the effort to change our ways.

God does not expect perfection but He does expect you to care enough to make the effort. He knows when you are slacking in your faith, making excuses and just refusing to change your ways. If today was a bad day for you, find your remorse and then with a prayer seeking forgiveness you can move on and hope again in a new day, a new opportunity to get it right and a new chance to bear good fruit.

You have to decide that you are worth it and that you matter enough to desire heaven because God has already done that for you by sending Jesus and He died on that cross for you which proves His love and His belief that you are worth it. With our Lord validating your self-worth you need to do the same and choose to obey the gospel of Christ. Let each day be a day that you praise God and thank Jesus.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHTS: TEMPTATION

Take seriously your faith. Get your priorities straight.
Pastor John Collins, John Collins Ministries
